This simple business simulation is designed to introduce basic business processes. The simulation format provides a dynamic learning environment for acquiring new skills. The model in this example is that of a small lawn mowing operation. Profits are generated by mowing lawns each day over the course of a single 100 day mowing season. The goal of this simulation is to help business learners understand basic profit calculations.

The simulation begins on day one with one lawn mower that is rented. Costs are shown beside the model. The demand for lawns to be mowed each day is random, but influenced by advertising. Newspaper advertising each day will increase demand up to some maximum point.  The Price and Mowers decision variables may be changed to yield greater profits.  These decisions may be changed from their initial values by pressing the up/down arrows in each decision block.

Press the 'Simulate Day' button to begin the simulation.  A 'Display Results' button is provided to access a daily report of several simulation outcomes each period and displays all periods on one report.  A 'Plot Results' button is available after 20 periods have been simulated.  It displays demand and lawns mowed outcomes each day in a 20 day window in graphic form.  Use the 'ReSet Sim' button to re-start the simulation.
